Three Counties, Seven Piers raises thousands in colossal coastal challenge
Fundraisers took on a colossal cycling challenge along the East Anglian coast to raise money for Suffolk Mind, Mid & North East Essex Mind and Norfolk & Waveney Mind.
A group of 30 cyclists took on the Three Counties, Seven Piers challenge on Sunday 9 June. The challenge saw them attempt the 94-mile route from Great Yarmouth to Clacton-on-Sea.
The route saw them stop at seven piers along the way. These included Britannia Pier in Great Yarmouth, Southwold Pier, Felixstowe Pier and Ha’Penny Pier in Harwich.
The challenge helped raise £7,875 for our vital mental health services
Jon Neal and Damian Nunn
Our CEO Jon Neal said: “It’s fantastic to be partnering with both Mid & North East Essex Mind and Norfolk & Waveney Mind on a fundraising challenge we could all get excited about.
“I have great admiration for the cyclists who have taken part – and it really is a big challenge, even if you’re fit and used to cycling a lot!
“Thank you to our sponsors and to everyone that’s been raising money for the three local Mind’s which will undoubtedly help support people across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk.”
Damian Nunn, Managing Director of sponsors Pitkin & Ruddock, cycled for team Suffolk Mind and said the event was a “great experience”.
He added: “I’ve really enjoyed leading my team in this challenge to raise money for Suffolk Mind.
“The added bonus has been getting fit ahead of the day!”
Conor Nicholson, Business and Stakeholder Coordinator at fellow sponsors Galloper Wind Farm, said he was “delighted” to sponsor the challenge.
He added: “At Galloper, we recognise the importance of mental health and have a team of dedicated Wellbeing Ambassadors.
“It’s great to be able to support a local initiative to raise awareness and much needed funding for such a vital service.”
Thanks also goes to OnVenture, who organised the event.
